Caleb Clark Dorroh (sometimes called Clark Clay Dorroh) was the son of William and Rebecca Dorroh. He was born in Caldwell County, Kentucky, 16 August 1828. In 1845 he married Nancy Lee Dyson. They farmed land in the Ohio River valley downstream from Louisville.

The Dorroh clan was -- and is -- well-established in Kentucky. A John Dorroh had been in the Mounted Kentucky Militia in the War of 1812. Francis Morgan Dorroh was with the Confederate Army.

Caleb and Nancy eventually followed their son John to California. They died at Angels Camp: she 7 April 1909, he in 1910. [Johnston pp 362, 376, 381-382]
